UNDERSTANDING OUR CHILDREN:

All CHILDREN ARE SPECIAL: THEY ARE OUR FUTURE!

As the owner and founder of KidzCity, my goal is to develop an understanding for parents and teachers with ALL children. Children need to feel safe, loved, cared for and understood. Positive reinforcement and any of praise in your words, your eyes, your tone, and your body language is better to hear than a constant NO.

Including the children of today who "do not fit into the so called mold of today"

These children are very intelligent and gifted but sadly not recognized in most schools and classrooms.

Unfortunately the children are labeled as different, trouble makers, badly behaved, or need to be on

meds!

Gifted children are very sensitive and often need a new way of understanding and care, which takes

time, it is not a quick or easy fix, therefore most teachers and schools will not adjust to new ways.

Parents end up going to meds on recommendations of educators and other professionals instead of

being advised that these children can benefit with a different way of parenting.

Their IQ is generally above average. They simply learn differently, require a different learning environment, and often resist the kind of absolute authority that characterizes most school systems.

FOLLOWING CHARACTERISTICS TO HELP YOU IDENTIFY IF YOUR CHILD IS GIFTED:

The gifted child will not respond to "guilt" discipline.
They are not shy in letting you know what they need.
They often have a lot of energy.
They are highly sensitive
They get bored easily.
They have a short attention span.
They will resist authority
They have preferred ways of learning, particularly in reading and math
They may become easily frustrated because they have big ideas and lack the resources
They may learns from an exploratory level, resisting rote memory or just being a listener
They cannot sit still unless absorbed in something of their own interest
They are very compassionate, and often have many fears
